Statistische Instrumente fällen treffsicherere prognostische Urteile als Professionelle anhand interpretativer Verfahren. Dies zeigt bereits seit den 1950er Jahren eine überwältigende Anzahl an Studien aus unterschiedlichen Feldern. In dem Beitrag wird der Versuch unternommen, Ver-fahren statistischer Urteilsbildung in ein System professionellen Urteilens und Handelns zu in-tegrieren, ohne einer Technologisierung und Manualisierung originär professioneller Tätigkeit Vorschub zu leisten. Mit Hilfe professionstheoretischer Überlegungen wird anhand des Infer-enzbegriffs von Andrew Abbott der Kern sozialpädagogischen Handelns rekonstruiert und am Beispiel des Kinderschutzsystems gezeigt, inwiefern eine solche professionelle Praxis von der Treffsicherheit statistischer Risikoscreenings profitieren kann.

This has been shown by an overwhelming number of studies in diffe-rent fields since the 1950s. This paper attempts to integrate statistical assessment into a system of professional judgment and professional action without sanctioning the technologization and automation of an inherently professional activity. The author reconstructs the core of social-pedagogical action using theoretical considerations based on Andrew Abbott´s concept of infer-ence and shows, using the endangered-child protection system as an example, how professional practice can benefit from the accuracy of statistical risk assessments.
