Description / Abstract
Stichworte: Familienklima, Schulerfolg, Adoleszenz, sozio-ökonomischer Status, Familienentwicklung
The influence of the family on the educational career is well-documented in socialization and education research. The relation between family climate and school success, however, has been scarcely investigated in Germany. Based on a representative sample of 1744 families with 14- to 17-year-old adolescents, this article examines the impact of the socio-emotional climate in these families on the adolescents ´school success, taking their socio-economic status into account. The results show that the family climate is often dysfunctional in socially disadvantaged families. They further reveal a connection between family climate and school success. Keywords: family climate, school success, adolescence, socio-economic status, family development
