L†™obituaire de l†™abbaye de Saint-Victor de Paris présente non seulement de l†™intéràªt pour l†™histoire de cette importante abbaye royale et de sa congrégation, mais aussi pour les relations de la royauté capétienne avec la noblesse de l†™Ile-de-France. Composé au XIVe sià¨cle et continué jusqu†™à la Révolution il est édité ici pour la premià¨re fois dans son intégralité. Il nous offre une vue d†™ensemble sur la structure de l†™ordre victorin et sur les chanoines résidant dans l†™abbaye mà¨re – on y retrouve les noms des abbés, des prieurs, des officiers claustraux et ceux de 1033 chanoines et de 153 convers -, tout comme sur les donations pro anima qui nous fournissent des détails sur la situation économique de l†™abbaye. On y recueille aussi des informations sur les citoyens et la topographie de la ville de Paris ainsi que sur les Maà®tres de l†™Université, en relation avec les Victorins et leur école théologique, reputée par des maà®tres tels que Hugues et Richard de Saint-Victor au XIIe sià¨cle. Cet obituaire peut donc servir de point de départ pour des études prosopographiques et sociohistoriques.
Das Nekrolog der Abtei Saint-Victor in Paris ist nicht nur von Bedeutung für die Geschichte dieser wichtigen französischen Königsabtei und ihrer Kongregation, sondern auch für das Beziehungsgeflecht des kapetingischen Königshauses mit dem Adel der Ile-de-France. Das hier erstmals vollständig edierte Nekrolog aus dem 14. Jahrhundert, das bis zur Auflösung der Abtei in der Französischen Revolution fortgeführt wurde, erlaubt einen Überblick über die Struktur des Ordens und über das Personal der Mutterabtei – außer den Äbten, Prioren und Amtsträgern werden 1033 Kanoniker und 153 Konversen namentlich genannt.
Die Seelgerätstiftungen vermitteln zudem einen Einblick in die wirtschaftlichen Verhältnisse der Abtei. Darüber hinaus bietet das Nekrolog Informationen zur Bürgerschaft und zur Topographie der Stadt Paris sowie zu den Magistern der Pariser Universität, die in enger Beziehung zu den Viktorinern und ihrer theologischen Schule standen - mit so berühmten Gelehrten wie Hugo und Richard von Saint-Victor im 12. Jahrhundert. Es kann dementsprechend als Grundlage für weiterführende prosopographische und sozialgeschichtliche Studien dienen.
The obituary of the abbey of St Victor in Paris is not only of substantial importance for the history of this prominent royal abbey and its congregation, but also for the network of relationships established between the Capetian Dynasty and the nobility of the Ile-de-France. The integral edition of this obituary, composed in the 14th century and continued until the French Revolution, is published here for the first time. It gives us a general view of the structure of the order of St Victor and of the canons living within the motherhouse in Paris. In addition to the abbots, the priors and the claustral officers some 1033 canons and 153 lay brothers are named here -, and the donations pro anima provide us with an insight into the economy of the abbey. The obituary furnishes us with information about the citizens of Paris and the topography of the town as well as about the masters of the University, closely connected to the Victorine theological school – famous in the 12th century for thinkers and teachers such as Hugh and Richard of St. Victor. Accordingly it can be taken as a solid basis for further prosopographical and socio-historical studies.
