Summary: The regime change in Poland 1989 caused a fundamental restructuring of the political landscape. Taking the daily "Gazeta Wyborcza" and its reporting of the ecological and anti-militaristic opposition movement "Freedom and Peace" (WiP), this article examines the mass media in this process. In "Gazeta Wyborcza´s" framing, WiP was transformed from an opposition movement against the communist system into a part of a young, alternative scene, influenced by anarchist ideas. As a result, WiP as a politicial player, and its positions, were pushed to the margins of the political sphere, which at the same time was being reconfigured.
