Abstract: In the 1960s, the educational institutions school and university were significant places for the political protests of pupils and students. This paper will elaborate on how schools and universities had a mobilizing effect on these pupils and students. In a first step, socio-theoretical theories will be outlined, where schools and universities are described as politically relevant institutions and also as interactive rooms for experiences and actions. In a second step, on basis of a contextual and biographical analysis of one of the protests´ main topics, the relevance of schools and universities for individual politicization processes will be described.
