Consumption is based on socio-cultural shaped needs. Consumption reflects integration as well as exclusion. The freedom to consume requires appropriate financial means. The momentum created in the world of consumption determines the handling of time. Modern ways of access into the world of consumption go along with a nearly boundless catch of information. This information is worth money, traded to stimulate new consumer desires. The more comprehensive everyday life is interwoven with consumption, the more important it is to address the side effects of it. The paper concludes with four theses on youth and consumption.
