Zusammenfassung: Was hat Pädagogik mit Übergängen zu tun? Ein Blick in neuere Veröf-fentlichungen erweckt den Anschein, Pädagogik und Erziehungswissenschaft hätten das Thema Übergänge erst neu entdeckt. Eine Rekonstruktion der Geschichte der Übergangs-forschung legt dagegen nahe, dass die Gestaltung von Übergängen im Lebenslauf grund-sätzliche pädagogische Aspekte enthält. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird die Reflexion der Ge-staltung und Herstellung von Übergängen entlang von Diskursen, Institutionen und indivi-dueller Bewältigung als notwendiger Bestandteil einer pädagogischen und erziehungswis-senschaftlichen Beschäftigung mit Übergängen begründet. Dies wird am Beispiel von Bil-dungsentscheidungen illustriert.

Abstract: What is the relation between education and transitions? A view on newer publica-tions suggests that pedagogy and educational sciences have only recently discovered the topic of transitions in the life course. However, reconstructing the history of transition re-search reveals that the shaping of transitions in general includes pedagogical aspects. Be-fore this backdrop, it is argued that the reflection of the shaping and the production of transitions should be a key element of pedagogy and educational sciences. This is illuz-strated with regard to educational decision making.
