Descripción / Abstract
Zusammenfassung: Nach anfänglichem Zögern lassen nun auch immer häufiger gehörlose bzw. hochgradig hörgeschädigte Eltern ihr hochgradig hörgeschädigtes bzw. gehörloses Kind mit einem Cochlea Implantat (CI) versorgen. Der Beratung und Begleitung dieser Eltern durch Frühförderung und Cochlear Implant Zentrum kommt dabei eine außerordentliche Rolle zu, da die Eltern den Hörlern-und Spracherwerbsprozess nach CI-Versorgung ihrer Kinder nicht wie hörende Eltern verfolgen können. Das Besondere und Spezifische in der Zusammenarbeit mit diesen Eltern in der prä- und postoperativen Phase wird dargestellt. Abschließende Fallbeispiele veranschaulichen die Rolle und Verantwortung der Beratung.

Abstract: Cochlear implantation has witnessed a rapid development from initial hesitation to widespread acceptance. Nowadays, more and more deaf parents or parents with severe hearing impairment are opting for cochlear implants (CI) for their deaf or hearing impaired child. The role of counseling and monitoring services provided by early child intervention and the Cochlear Implant Centre is of paramount importance to these parents who, unlike their hearing peers, are unable to monitor the speech development of their children following cochlear implantation. This article focuses on the specific features governing pre- and post-operative collaboration with these parents. Subsequent case studies will serve to highlight the role and responsibility of the counseling services.
