Ziel des Beitrags ist zu prüfen, ob Bildung ein für die Kinder- und Jugendhilfe relevantes Orientierungskonzept sein kann. Wenn ja, welche Anforderungen an ein Bildungsverständnis sind damit verbunden? Ausgangspunkt ist die Rekonstruktion des neuen Bildungsdiskurses in der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe, der als primär institutionalistisch und professionspolitisch interpretiert wird. Dem wird die theoretische Unterscheidung funktionaler, sozialer und subjektbezogener Dimensionen vorliegender Bildungsverständnisse entgegengesetzt. Das daraus entstehende Begriffsgerüst aus Lebensbewältigung und Aneignung, Erziehung und Anerkennung wird an empirischen Fallbeispielen biographischer Übergangsverläufe Jugendlicher zwischen Schule und Beruf auf seine heuristische Plausibilität hin überprüft. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird argumentiert, dass nur ein konsequent partizipatorischer Bildungsbegriff mit den Integrationszielen der Jugendhilfe vereinbar ist.
The article discusses the adequacy of "Bildung" as a guiding concept for child and youth welfare and the implications for an understanding of "Bildung" in this respect. It starts by reconstructing the current discourse on "Bildung" in child and youth welfare, which is interpreted as primarily driven by institutional and professional interests. A contrasting theoretical distinction is made between functional, social and subject-oriented dimensions of existing concepts of "Bildung". The heuristic potential of the resulting model consisting of concepts such as coping and appropriation, upbringing and recognition is tested against empirical cases of young people´s trajectories from school to work. The author concludes that only a thoroughly participatory understanding of "Bildung" is compatible with the goal of social integration on which child and youth welfare relies.
