This article presents the main results of a nation-wide, representative written survey of nursing directors on the need for a basic vocational training for anaesthesia. The results are reflected against the background of current discussions, particularly regarding the securing of a new generation in this professional field, the reorganisation of the fields of action and the allocation of rights and duties between the professional groups and the accompanying need for change in the established vocational training and further training as well as those in development. Particular attention is paid to the so far prevailing qualification for specific employment in the field of anaesthesia in contrast to the vocational training for nursing with a specialised further training in "anaesthesia and intensive care". -- Keywords -- anaesthesia, further training, vocational training, technical assistance for anaesthesia -- Im Beitrag werden zentrale Ergebnisse einer bundesweiten Befragung von Pflegedienstdirektoren zum Bedarf an einer grundständigen Berufsausbildung für den Anästhesie-Funktionsdienst vorgestellt. Die Ergebnisse werden vor dem Hintergrund aktueller Diskussionen u.a. hinsichtlich des zu erwartenden Personalmangel sowie der Wandlungsprozesse von Aufgaben und Kompetenzverteilungen im Handlungsfeld Anästhesie reflektiert. Dabei werden damit einhergehende Weiterentwicklungsbedarfe der Fachweiterbildung Anästhesie & Intensivpflege sowie Fragen nach der Notwendigkeit und Angemessenheit eines möglichen grundständigen Ausbildungsberufs für die spezifische Tätigkeit im Anästhesie-Funktionsdienst beleuchtet. -- Schlüsselwörter -- Anästhesie, Fachweiterbildung, Berufsausbildung, Anästhesietechnische Assistenz --
