Description / Abstract

This contribution addresses the wealth of creative impulses in the »first life« (1915–1922) of misfit and multi-talent Hans Jürgen von der Wense (1894–1966). His life-historical experiences and his creative powers that found outlets in many directions, including music, were influenced by contemporaneous politics and art and were both tainted by the pre-war period, World War I, the November Revolution and council republics and inspired by expressionism, futurism and Dadaism. His composition for piano Ich hatt einen Kameraden. Groteske (1919) instantiates an outcry against the tides of the time.
