When Hans R. Beierlein placated advertising pillars with »Die Franzosen kommen« (»The French are Coming«) throughout Germany in 1978, the Munich-based media manager could already look back on nearly two decades of the many successes of French artists in Germany. Like no other, he championed the distribution of chanson in Germany and gave the most popular French artists numerous opportunities to demonstrate their musical skills, in TV as well as on stage – certainly always for commercial reasons.
