Description / Abstract

The following article will not examine the translation of chansons in terms of linguistic theory of equivalence, but as target-oriented and purposeful activity. Therefore the theoretical frame is formed by functional and culture-sensitive approaches, which have been developed in the Translation Studies since the 1980s in light of the cultural turn. With the example of the Chansons Nantes by Barbara and its translation, the difficulties of the chanson-translation will be illustrated.
