Description / Abstract

Abstract: In the context of inclusive school development in Germany paraprofessional support is increasingly implemented in schools, primarily for students regarded as having Special Educational Needs. Educational research now shows growing interest in the role of paraprofessional support in inclusive classrooms e.g. focusing on the conceptual design and professionalization of this role. This article presents intermediate results of an exploratory study which aims to reconstruct the practice of paraprofes-sional support and the implicit production of sozial differences from the perspective of students with Special Educational Needs, focusing on in-class situations. Using the Documentary Method an exemplary comparative sequence analysis is depicted, which shows students´ orientation on learning in class under the circumstances of receiving paraprofessional support.
