Description / Abstract
Familiale Übergänge stellen aus biographischer Perspektive Schlüsselereignisse dar, die maßgeblich zur Herausbildung geschlechterdivergenter Formen familialer Arbeitsteilung beitragen. Gängige familiensoziologische Ansätze erklären dies nur unzureichend, weshalb neuerdings Theorien fokussiert werden, in denen die Vermittlung individueller, gesellschaftlicher sowie kultureller Faktoren im Vordergrund steht. Dieser Beitrag greift Vorstellungen lebenslanger Sozialisation auf und fragt auf der Basis qualitativer Daten danach, wie Arbeitsteilungsmuster im Rahmen familialer Übergänge reflexiv entwickelt und verändert werden. Dabei wird deutlich, dass Arbeitsteilungsmuster nicht isoliert betrachtet werden können, sondern in umfassendere Vorstellungen von Familie (Familienkonzepte) eingebettet sind. Diese entwickeln Eltern u. a. im Rückgriff auf biographische Erfahrungen, die allerdings unter Heranziehung teils widersprüchlicher und sich wandelnder gesellschaftlicher Erwartungen und gegenwärtiger Erfahrungen reflektiert werden. Es werden familienkonzeptbezogene Veränderungsprozesse skizziert, die mit Arbeitsteilungsmustern in Verbindung stehen. Insofern diese keinesfalls gleichförmig verlaufen, erklärt dies zum Teil die Langsamkeit und Widersprüchlichkeit des Wandels der Arbeitsteilung.

Family transitions are key events in the life course which have been shown to significantly contribute to the manifestation of a gendered division of labour. Common sociological theories can only partly explain these processes, however, new theoretical explanations have recently emerged, focusing on the interplay of individual, social and cultural factors. Taking these into consideration, the article discusses ideas of life-long socialization processes and analyses - based on qualitative data - of how concepts of labour division are developed and redefined in the context of family transitions. These analyses indicate that concepts of the gendered division of labour cannot be viewed in isolation, but are rather integrated into an extensive pattern of ideas regarding everyday family life in a more general sense (family concepts). Parents develop these family concepts by referring back to their family experiences in childhood and adolescence and reflecting on them on the basis of - at times contradicting and changing - social expectations. This article outlines transformations of family concepts in relations to the division of labour. It illustrates that and why such changes are not at all straightforward, which in the end reflects the slowness and contradiction observed in the change of the gendered division of labour.
