Description / Abstract
In diesem Beitrag werden zwei Projekte kommunaler Kulturarbeit in Deutschland und England verglichen. Anhand der Selbstdarstellungen im Internet wird rekonstruiert, wie unterschiedliche Verständnisse von Organisation, Beteiligung und Repräsentation zum Tragen kommen und wie sich dies auf die Herstellung von Öffentlichkeit auswirkt. Des Weiteren wird in der Kontrastierung der beiden Fälle herausgearbeitet, dass sowohl die zugrunde liegenden Annahmen einer Community Education als auch die damit zusammenhängenden Konzeptualisierungen von Öffentlichkeit stark divergieren, was wiederum Auswirkungen auf die Praxis kultureller Bildungsarbeit hat.
This paper compares two municipal cultural education projects in Germany and in England. Using the presentations in the Internet, the authors reconstruct differing understandings of organization, participation and representation in cultural education and how this affects the creation of a public sphere. In the contrast between the two projects, it becomes apparent that both the underlying assumptions of community education and related conceptualizations of the public sphere diverge greatly. This has implications for cultural education praxis in the two countries.
