This scoping review provides an overview of empirical studies on children’s perspectives regarding family relationships and dynamics in migration contexts. Using the PRISMA-ScR framework, 4,999 records were screened in ERIC and in the journals Childhood, Children’s Geographies, and Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, of which 130 qualitative and mixed-methods studies published between 2014 and 2024 met the inclusion criteria. The analysis identified five core thematic domains: intergenerational relationships, narratives and identities; family and (multilingual) language practices; family and education; family separation and reunification; and childhoods in refugee camps and shelters. The findings demonstrate that children act as agents who actively shape family life. Future research should pay particular attention to early childhood settings, non-Western contexts, and stronger theoretical integration of relational agency and intersectionality frameworks.
