Aus ihrem Anspruch, Theorie wesentlich an Praxis zu binden – und damit in prätheoretischen Erfahrungen, oppositionellen Bewusstseinsformen und Theoretisierungen sowie Praktiken der Kritik und des Widerstands zu verankern, diese aber auch zu befördern –, ergibt sich für die Kritische Theorie die Aufgabe, ihre eigenen entmächtigenden, antiemanzipatorischen und »unkritischen« Effekte systematisch zu berücksichtigen. Der Einbeziehung alternativer Standpunkte und Epistemologien sowie der darin sich artikulierenden Praktiken der Kritik – wie sie im Rahmen der Critical Race Theory gefordert wird – kommt dabei eine entscheidende Rolle zu, die hier mit Bezug auf das bisher von der Kritischen Theorie vernachlässigte Feld der Migration exemplifiziert wird.
Critical Theory is committed to tying theory to practice and thus to anchoring theory in pre-theoretical experience, oppositional forms of consciousness and theorization, as well as practices of critique and resistance – while at the same time promoting them. This requires Critical Theory to take into account systematically its own disempowering, anti-emancipatory and “uncritical† effects. In this context, the inclusion of alternative standpoints and epistemologies, as well as the practices of critique they articulate – as Critical Race Theory advocates – plays a crucial role. This role is exemplified here with reference to the field of migration, which thus far has been neglected by Critical Theory.
