Auf der Grundlage einer qualitativen Studie diskutiert der Beitrag die psychotherapeutische Praxis des Deutens und »Übersetzens« von Patient_innenleiden und stellt diese Praxis als Biografisierung vor. Das Konzept des mit dieser Praxis verbundenen »biografischen Blicks« der Psychotherapie wird analog zum klinischen Blick der Medizin und Psychiatrie, wie ihn Foucault konzipierte, für die spezifische deutsche Behandlungssituation in psychosomatischen Kliniken entwickelt und problematisiert. Dies geschieht in drei Schritten: Psychotherapie wird als professionelle Praxis zunächst mit Blick auf die therapeutische Übersetzung als Othering und Selving kontextualisiert. Im Anschluss daran werden die Anlage und Ergebnisse der empirischen Studie vorgestellt, die sich in vier Dimensionen des biografischen Blicks zusammenfassen lassen. Schließlich werden abschließend problematische Dimensionen der Praxis der Biografisierung diskutiert.
Based on a qualitative study, this article discusses the psychotherapeutic practice of interpreting and “translating† patients†™ suffering, presenting it as a practice of “biographization.† The associated psychotherapeutic concept of the “biographical gaze† is developed and problematized specifically for the treatment situation in German psychosomatic clinics, analogous to the clinical view of medicine and psychiatry as conceived by Foucault. The presentation involves three steps: firstly, psychotherapy as a professional practice is contextualized, in view of its therapeutic translation, as “othering† and “selving†; secondly, the design and results of the empirical study are presented, which can be summarized in four dimensions of the biographical gaze; finally, problematic dimensions of the practice of biographization are discussed.
