Beschreibung / Abstract
Innovation processes of security technologies are fundamentally discursively framed as their main driving forces are anticipated security risks which are discursively constituted themselves. This reciprocal relation between security technologies and the discursivity of security programmes constitutes the background of the article. Drawing on the example of contemporary deception detection procedures and especially those technologies that were put forth as a reaction to 9/11, we analyse the circularity between discursively constituted security programmes and material technologies. It is our aim to show the analytical value of science and technology studies for discourse theory.
Keywords: Sociotechnical interaction, lie detection, security politics, dispositif analysis, social construction of technology
