Beschreibung / Abstract

The reduction of educational disadvantage is a significant legitimization for the recent expansion of all-day schools in Germany. Yet, there is little research into how this aim impacts primary schools of varying organisational types. Therefore, we conducted a DFG-funded project entitled "´Educational disadvantage´ as a theme for educational actors in all-day schools". Using the documentary method, we reconstructed the orientations of teachers and additional educational staff in eight primary schools with various forms of organisation (part-time to all-day) and with pupils of different social statuses. Our analysis indicates that the reduction of educational disadvantage plays only a negligible role in the orientation framework of both groups of educational actors. Instead, other orientation problems dominate, which are largely similar in schools of similar organisation types, but the educational actors deal with them in different ways that correspond to the organisational logics of the respective schools, for example, by referring to the social status of pupils.
