Beschreibung / Abstract
Education has taken on new relevance in current discussion of the potentials of old age. The right to lifelong learning has tended to become a duty. The author takes a critical look at this development from an educational-sociological perspective. After an introduction on the importance of education as a formative element in demographic aging, the article examines the educational policy concept of lifelong learning. This is followed by an outline of a critical "geragogy" and discussion of current ambivalences in education for the elderly. The article concludes with an outlook on future requirements of education for the elderly.
