In diesem Beitrag wird das komplexe Verhältnis von AdressatInnen in Institutionen der Jugendhilfe unter der Perspektive empirischer Forschung kritisch diskutiert. Es wird die These entwickelt, dass sich in den letzten Jahren zunehmend eine Heuristik etabliert hat, die das dynamische Wechselverhältnis von AdressatInnen und Hilfen in besonderer Weise beschreibt: das pädagogische Passungsverhältnis. In aktuellen Forschungsarbeiten werden die impliziten Prämissen von Passungsverhältnissen zunächst rekonstruiert. Biographieforschung, Wirkungsforschung, organisationskulturelle Studien bilden den Rahmen der Untersuchung und werden durch einen internationalen Blickwinkel ergänzt. Auf der Grundlage dieser Überlegungen wird ein eigenes Verständnis von pädagogischen Passungsverhältnissen entfaltet, welches das Verhältnis von AdressatInnen und Institution der Jugendhilfe in den Dimensionen linear/dynamisch, statisch/prozesshaft, eindimensional/ hybrid und reflexiv/normativ versucht zu verorten und forschungs -praktisch zu skizzieren. -- -- This paper discusses and empirically evaluates the complex relationship between service users and service. It makes the case that in recent years a heuristic has been established, that characterises the dynamic interrelations between service users and service provisions in a specific way: the matching between the needs of the service users and social work interventions. (The term used in the German discourse is "das pädagogische Passungsverhältnis"). In current research, at the initial stage, the assumptions of matching conditions are reconstructed by referring to biographical research, studies about the organizational cultures and research on the effects of social work practice. This is complemented by an international perspective. Based on these considerations, an own understanding of a successful matching process in the field of social work with children and young people is developed. The focus of the theorising approach lies on the classification of the observed relations between service users and service providers for children and youth by considering the dimensions linear/dynamic, static/process orientated, onedimensional
